Rescheduled FDA Fibromyalgia Patient Meeting March 26, 2014

YOUR VOICE IS NEEDED!!  As many of you know, the original date for the FDA Public Fibromyalgia Patient-Focused Meeting was set for December 10, 2013. Many NFMCPA constituents registered and traveled to Maryland to attend the meeting. The winter weather had other ideas, and on the morning of the conference notices went out that all federal buildings were closed for the day. Jan Chambers, President of the NFMCPA, like so many others, found herself stuck in her hotel room watching the snow pile up. Her concerns along with the thoughts of all of us at the NFCMPA centered on the people with FM who made the trip to testify, but instead were having to find transportation back to their homes. Travelling is never a joy for people battling FM symptoms, but cold weather and big storm systems add countless problems on top of existing physical restrictions.

Hopefully, those people have had to time to rebound and regroup because the NFMCPA received information from the Food and Drug Administration about the rescheduled Public Fibromyalgia Patient-Focused Meeting to March 26, 2014. For more information, please visit the FDA's website at  People with fibromyalgia and others who are interested are encouraged to attend the meeting in person or via the webcast.

IMPORTANT NOTE: to attend the meeting in person or by webcast, you will need to register for the March 26, 2014, meeting even if you had originally registered for the December 10, 2013, meeting.  The direct registration website is:

The time that people can submit comments is extended to May 26, 2014. Information on submitting comments is also available on our website.  For additional information about the purpose of the meeting, click here.

Thanks to all who registered for the December meeting, the FDA had such a strong response by the patient community for the December meeting that the meeting was moved to a larger room. The FDA  looks forward to an equally strong response for the rescheduled March 26, 2014 meeting.  The NFMCPA sincerely appreciates your efforts to speak up about how fibromyalgia impacts your daily life, how well current treatments are working, and what you would like to see in a treatment.  The NFMCPA strongly encourages you to attend the meeting.
